ABOUT Artist and curator Sophie Kahn invited 13 artists who work with 3D imaging to contribute to this online exhibition. Titled Dreamspace, the project is inspired by science fictions of downloaded memories, digital forensics and the commercial utopias of architectural 3D rendering. Read More
Sophie Kahn is a UK-born, Brooklyn-based digital artist. Her practice deals with technology and failure, in particular the failure of new imaging technology to capture the human body. Sophie earned a BA (Hons) from Goldsmiths College, University of London, in Fine Art/History of Art, and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, in Art & Technology Studies. She is a NYFA 2011 Digital and Electronic Arts Fellow, has taught at Pratt Institute in the Department of Digital Arts, and has exhibited her print, video and sculptural work internationally.

Artists were invited to keep a record of their dreams for a period of time. This record could take any form. When they had a dream in which an architectural space featured prominently, their task was to reconstruct it using 3D software, to the best of their ability. They were instructed only to model those areas of the space that they could recall, leaving the rest blank: a testament to the slippery nature of memory, and the impossibility of technological reconstruction.
